These advanced helicopters, operated by the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC), play a crucial role in tactical training, search and rescue, and special operations. Designed and built to U.S. Navy specifications, the ‘Romeo’ aircraft is rugged, powerful, and reliable. Whether operating from shore or ship, MH-60R operators can confidently prosecute the mission, and return home safely. The MH-60R primary missions include Surface Warfare (SUW) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW). Eight secondary missions are also assigned to the aircraft. To keep in stride with this modernization trend, the U.S. Navy determined that the newest rotary-wing fleet aircraft, the MH-60S and MH-60R, would incorporate these advanced cockpit designs. This program was named Common Cockpit.
